Our Story

Hiya! I'm Katie,

Left-handed, coffee-drinking, night-owl, knitting-obsessed, running-newbie from Canada and I am the woman behind the scenes here at The Knit Nook. I moved to Napier, New Zealand at the end of 2021 with my kiwi husband of 19 years, and our four kids ages 7-17.

This new season of life is freeing me up for yarn related adventures and I am excited for it. I’ve been knitting for about seventeen years and have a passion for both knitting itself and the community it nurtures. Knitting has been a comfort many times in my lifeand it brings me so much joy that I will be able to share that with our local knitting community.

Welcome to the Knit Nook, our boutique online Yarn Store. We stock carefully curated, squishy NZ wool, beautiful hand-dyed yarns, needles for knitting or crochet, and notions of all sorts.

Our mission is joy and community building in the making space. Knitting, crochet, all fiber arts. Nothing is better than coming together and having a laugh and a yarn over some yarn.

*We had a retail space in downtown Napier, Hawkes Bay, from 2022-2025 but we now enjoy the flexibility of being solely online (with the occasional pop-up event) and still being present for the kids.
